| The cool evenings of mid to late August and the late summer rains set the stage for our fall Chinook (king) and coho salmon runs. Dropping river temperatures and increased water flows on the Salmon River and other Lake Ontario tributaries are precisely what's needed to trigger thousands of salmon to make their annual runs back to their birthplace. | |||||||||||||

| Mid October presents new opportunities for anglers. Steelhead, which are North America's most sought after game fish, begin their fall migration from Lake Ontario which, unlike the salmon, will not spawn at this time but will winter over in the Salmon River and then spawn in late March and early April. Because of the six months plus time that steelhead are in the Salmon river system this offers steelhead anglers a variety of fishing opportunities and techniques, weather conditions, and seasons to try their fare with these incredible challenging fish. | |||||||||||||
